[FINAL] Critical Reflection on Module Learning and Presentation Showcase

Module Learning
For the past 13 weeks, I have retained valuable knowledge from the Career and Professional II module that improved my communication and presentation skills. I have also learned various concepts that will be useful in the future. For example, the Transactional Model of Communication taught me how to identify communicational gaps that need to be eliminated in the hospitality industry.

As I reflect on my initial objectives for this module, I believed I have achieved my intended outcomes on building up my confidence and having my own personal branding. This was only possible as I constantly practiced my lines in front of a small audience to reduce my stage fright. Moreover, the feedbacks given by my peers and Ms. Shirley also made me a better communicator. As I embark on my 8-month IWSP journey,  I will continue to brush up my communication skills by engaging with my audience and seeking for honest feedbacks from my peers and managers.

Presentation Showcase
My group was given the opportunity to present our Service Excellence project topic at the presentation showcase. It was a nerve-wrecking, yet eye-opening, experience for me as we had to present in front of a large audience, together with industry partners.

Unlike the in-class presentation, I was very nervous and constantly overthink about the negative scenarios which affected my performance. For instance, I stuttered a few times and had a very tense facial expression on. However, based on my peers’ feedback, I managed to pace myself properly this time round instead of rushing my parts. I also maintained a very composed body posture during the presentation.

Although the Passion Pavers was not chosen to be the top three groups, I thoroughly enjoyed other groups’ presentation and believed everyone is a winner on its own.
