SKILLS ON WHEELS REFLECTION

The two modules I have chosen are “Handle Face-to-Face" Interview and “Present Effectively”. The reason for choosing “Handle Face-to-Face Interview” was because I felt that there was a need to improve my interview skills in order to land a job upon graduation. On the other hand, I wanted to learn how to accurately communicate my message across an audience, which led to my choice for “Present Effectively”. For both modules, I scored exceptionally well with an average score of 93.33%.

From the “Handle Face-to-Face Interview” module, I have learned the appropriate steps required to perform before and during an interview in order to ace it. Moreover, the module highlighted the possible interview questions, pairing them up with the appropriate responses. This module also taught me the do’s and don’ts during an interview which will serve as a reminder for my next job interview.

As for the “Present Effectively” module, I have learned the importance of audience engagement in order to elevate my presentation. Furthermore, I have learned the proper verbal and non-verbal cues used to deliver an effective presentation. This include using short phrases and maintaining eye-contact with the audience. The learning outcomes obtained from this module will come in handy for my upcoming presentations, such as the Service Excellence Presentation in Week 12.

Overall, I was impressed with the Skills on Wheels application. As a first-time user, I find the navigation relatively easy due to the intuitive web design. I particularly enjoyed the iStimulation activity as the use of interactive training video had enhanced my learning experience. Additionally, the integration of infographics provided visual aids for easy understanding. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend institutions to leverage on the Skills on Wheels application to aid students’ learning process.

  1. Hi Kian Gee
Glad to know you gained from these 2 modules. A couple of insights into how you would apply these to hospitality and how it will add value to your chosen career, personally and professionally will elevate this reflection. Which component proved challenging and what did you find most beneficial? For example, audience engagement where, how, and when will you need it in your line of work? Keep on reflecting, you never stop learning!
